It all started with a conversation between two colleagues and friends in the heat of the #MeToo movement, about how women (our voices and our art) should be taking up more space. And if women aren't achieving parity due to outdated power structures—it's time to flip the script and create visibility for women's work, through dynamic exhibition and multimodal programming models.
With these goals in mind—Lisa Wirth and Marly Hammer founded Work in Progress. They work as advisors and independent curators on global projects, from their home base in Brooklyn, NY.

Lisa Wirth is a serial entrepreneur who's founded and scaled a number of category defining start-ups in the cultural sector. She's an executive coach to founders and entrepreneurs, helping them positively navigate growth and disruptive change. As a curator and cultural thought leader, she's made it a mission to make culture more inclusive—democratizing access for new, diverse, and increasingly global audiences. She holds BS and MS degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Marly Hammer is currently the Senior Director of Global Exhibitions at LGDR, collaborating on the development of exhibitions & art fairs globally and overseeing the planning and execution of the program. Before joining LGDR, Marly was the Global Exhibitions Director at Pace Gallery. She has an MA in Exhibitions & Museum Studies from San Francisco Art Institute and a BA in Art History from Lafayette College.
